- Completed university studies in an art theoretical and / or creative subject
- A personality who, from the perspective of media theory, is able to illustrate the contents of the Virtual Design in their interaction in teaching and research.
- Outstanding professional competence, which should be proven by professional publications and research, as well as the ability to convey phenomenological phenomena in a pictorial, comprehensible manner, and to make clear references to current events.
The core content of the course includes the following:
Media analysis, media history and sociology, cultural history of media.
History and theory of design
Media and space theory, image theory and visual culture
The subject areas are to be represented both in teaching and in applied research. We expect very good didactical skills as well as the willingness to participate in the exchange with our international partner universities and to offer courses in English. In addition, we expect committed participation in teaching basic subjects and possibly giving lectures in related subject areas.
We expect the applicant to integrate themselves well into the existing team both professionally and personally, to get involved in the academic self-administration of our university and to enjoy imparting knowledge from their own professional experience to the students.
The university has a large number of collaborations with universities and research institutions such as Max Planck Institutes and Fraunhofer Institutes as well as companies. Intensifying and expanding these collaborations is highly desired.
Active participation in the university’s research activities is desired. In this context, we strive to increase third-party funding and the number of cooperative doctorates.
We advocate a supervision concept that requires a high level of presence of the teaching staff at the university campus.
German language skills (at least level C1) and English language skills are required. Teaching language ist mainly German.

This full-time position is available from winter semester 2023/24 at the Kaiserslautern campus of Kaiserslautern University of Applied Sciences at the Department Building and Design in part time (50%).
