W2 Professorship of Computer Science with a focus on multimedia learning, empirical methods and regulation

Your Profile

We are looking for a person with a university degree in computer science or comparable, as well as scientific competence, which is usually demonstrated by a qualified doctorate. The candidate should represent the areas of multimedia learning (remote/presence/blended learning), empirical methods in computer science and regulation in teaching and applied research. Relevant professional experience in at least three of the following areas is expected:

  • Multimedia learning especially in remote and blended learning teaching/learning scenarios.
  • Methods of empirical social research, in particular the planning, implementation and analysis of qualitative and quantitative studies.
  • Management and communication techniques, especially in the area of social skills and computer-aided communication media, mechanisms and processes.
  • Knowledge of social and legal framework conditions, particularly in the areas of data protection and security, copyright protection and regulatory requirements in the field of software development.

The subject areas are to be represented both in teaching and in applied research. We expect very good didactical skills as well as the willingness to participate in the exchange with our international partner universities and to offer courses in English. In addition, we expect committed participation in teaching basic topics of computer science and possibly giving lectures in related areas of computer science.

We expect the applicant to integrate well into the existing team both professionally and personally, to get involved in the academic self-administration of our university and to enjoy imparting knowledge from their own professional experience to the students.

The university has a large number of collaborations with universities and research institutions such as Max Planck Institutes and Fraunhofer Institutes as well as companies. Intensifying and expanding these collaborations is highly desired.

Active participation in the university’s research activities is desired. In this context, we strive to increase third-party funding and the number of cooperative doctorates.

We advocate a supervision concept that requires a high level of presence of the teaching staff at the university campus.

German language skills (at least level C1) and English language skills are required. Teaching language ist mainly German.

The hiring requirements for professors are regulated in Sec 49 of the Higher Education Act of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate.
