We are looking for a person with a university degree in engineering or materials science and a special aptitude for scientific work, which is usually demonstrated by a qualified doctorate. The applicant should combine the fields of materials science and manufacturing technology and represent them in teaching and applied research. To this end, relevant professional experience is expected, especially in the field of materials (focus: metal):
- in terms of materials science from the area of process-structure-property correlations and
- in terms of manufacturing technology in the field of additive manufacturing (focus: metal 3D printing)
- a combination with experience in the field of subtractive manufacturing is necessary.
The required equipment is available at the university or is currently being procured.
Ensuring the operation and expansion as well as improvement of the high-quality equipped laboratories is expected, among other things through the further acquisition of research funds. Collaboration in a research focus of the university, e.g. "Highly Efficient Technical Systems" (HTS) and in the "In-Institute QM3" is expected. In addition, based on professional experience, we expect committed participation in teaching in material science courses, laboratories and exercises in materials science and construction materials, manufacturing technology, generative manufacturing and CNC technology. Furthermore, we expect the applicant to conduct in-depth courses and special lectures on current research topics in the field of applied engineering sciences and in basic subjects of related disciplines. The part-time Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes are currently and in the future an important pillar of Kaiserslautern University of Applied Sciences, which is why the willingness to hold courses on Saturdays and to supervise students is also expected here.
The subject areas are to be represented both in teaching and in applied research. We expect very good didactical skills as well as the willingness to participate in the exchange with our international partner universities and to offer courses in English. In addition, we expect committed participation in teaching basic subjects and possibly giving lectures in related subject areas.
We expect the applicant to integrate themselves well into the existing team both professionally and personally, to get involved in the academic self-administration of our university and to enjoy imparting knowledge from their own professional experience to the students.
The university has a large number of collaborations with universities and research institutions such as Max Planck Institutes and Fraunhofer Institutes as well as companies. Intensifying and expanding these collaborations is highly desired.
Active participation in the university’s research activities is desired. In this context, we strive to increase third-party funding and the number of cooperative doctorates.
We advocate a supervision concept that requires a high level of presence of the teaching staff at the university campus.
German language skills (at least level C1) and English language skills are required. Teaching language ist mainly German.
