- We are looking for a personality who, from a historical and theoretical perspective, represents the theoretical content of Interior Design, Architecture, and partly in Virtual Design courses in their interaction in a clear and scientifically manner in teaching and research.
- The position holder possesses outstanding professional competence, which should be proven by relevant professional publications, as well as the ability to vividly convey phenomenological phenomena as the basis of theoretical considerations and to make clear references to current events.
The following course content shall be taught:
- In the required area: history of architecture and art, history of art and culture, theory of architecture and design.
- In the elective subject area: psychology of perception and special areas of architectural and art theory.
We are looking for a personality with a completed university studies in architecture- art, cultural history/architectural theory as well as a special aptitude for scientific work, which is usually demonstrated by a qualified doctorate or achievements appropriate for a doctorate.
The subject areas are to be represented both in teaching and in applied research. We expect very good didactical skills as well as the willingness to participate in the exchange with our international partner universities and to offer courses in English. In addition, we expect committed participation in teaching basic subjects and possibly giving lectures in related subject areas.
We expect the applicant to integrate themselves well into the existing team both professionally and personally, to get involved in the academic self-administration of our university and to enjoy imparting knowledge from their own professional experience to the students.
The university has a large number of collaborations with universities and research institutions such as Max Planck Institutes and Fraunhofer Institutes as well as companies. Intensifying and expanding these collaborations is highly desired.
Active participation in the university’s research activities is desired. In this context, we strive to increase third-party funding and the number of cooperative doctorates.
We advocate a supervision concept that requires a high level of presence of the teaching staff at the university campus.
German language skills (at least level C1) and English language skills are required. Teaching language ist mainly German.

This full-time position is available from winter semester 2023/24 at the Kaiserslautern campus of Kaiserslautern University of Applied Sciences at the Department Building and Design in part time (50%).
