Your Profile

We are looking for a person with a university degree in electrical engineering, mechatronics, computer science, information technology (IT) or a comparable engineering degree program and a special qualification for scientific work, which is proven by a corresponding PhD or doctorate-equivalent certification. We expect profound knowledge and relevant professional and scientific experience in at least two of the following areas:


  • Application of artificial intelligence methods and algorithms in engineering practice with a focus on electrical engineering issues
  • Image processing and pattern recognition
  • Methods and techniques of computer science in the field of engineering


Extensive knowledge and experience in one or more of the following areas is desirable:

  • Programming of technical systems in relevant programming languages
  • Programming especially of embedded systems
  • Network technology and computer networks


The subject areas are to be represented both in teaching and in applied research. We expect very good didactical skills as well as the willingness to participate in the exchange with our international partner universities and to offer courses in English. In addition, we expect committed participation in teaching in basic subjects, advanced courses and special lectures on current research topics and, if necessary, in lectures in related fields as well as in part-time and dual study programs.

We expect the applicant to integrate themselves well into the existing team both professionally and personally, to get involved in the academic self-administration of our university and to enjoy imparting knowledge from their own professional experience to the students.

The university has a large number of collaborations with universities and research institutions such as Max Planck Institutes and Fraunhofer Institutes as well as companies. Intensifying and expanding these collaborations is highly desired.

Active participation in the university’s research activities is desired. In this context, we strive to increase third-party funding and the number of cooperative doctorates.

We advocate a supervision concept that requires a high level of presence of the teaching staff at the university campus.

German language skills (at least level C1) and English language skills are required. Teaching language ist mainly German.

The hiring requirements for professors are regulated in Sec 49 of the Higher Education Act of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate.
